Easy vs Not Easy

November 18th 2011

Lets get real. I know getting and staying motivated is a challenge. Sometimes a daily or hourly challenge. Lets look at what is easy to do and what isn’t easy. See if you agree.

Easy to do:
Lie in bed and hit snooze
Go through the drive thru
Order take out
Sit on the couch and veg out
Put on sweat pants
Complain about what isn’t working
Blame others for my lack of time and motivation

Not easy:
Paying thousands on health care due to weight related illness
Losing time/money at work due to illness
Watching your kids play instead of playing with them
Staring at your closet depressed because nothing fits
Turning down invitations to pool parties and beach vacations because you don’t like the way you look in a bathing suit
Being tired every day
Being depressed every day

You may have thought I’d say easy to hit snooze, not easy to get out of bed. Nope! Do you think I love it when my alarm goes of at 5am? Heck no. I would much rather hug my pillow until the bitter end. But I know hugging my pillow will deliver what I don’t want. Tight pants, tired all day, depression etc.

You don’t have to be all or nothing. So many times I’ve heard people give an excuse about time for not working out. Sorry don’t buy it. I was one of those people. From my perspective it is pure laziness. Not wanting to plan ahead. Not wanting to change. You don’t want to get up early. You don’t want to carry your gym bag to work and hit the gym after work. You don’t want to order the salad with fat free dressing. You want the hamburger. If you want to put everything else first in your life besides yourself you will. If you don’t have your health you don’t’ have anything. Baby steps. If you do zero now then just get up and move. If you are eating terrible then try eating better at least 2 or 3 days a week.

Or people use money as an excuse. Don’t buy that one either. I’ve spent thousands on weight loss. Diet pills, surgery, hypnosis, books, and the list goes on and on. If you really want to put your health first you will. If you want to go through the drive thru for your meals every week you will. If you want to go to the grocery store and buy fresh fruit you will. If you want to go to the grocery store and by chips and dip you will. I don’t want you to spend thousands and quit. I want you to believe in yourself and go for it. You’ve spent more on false promises and the easy way out. Take the way that actually works and get the value for your dollar and hour.

I’m not in the convincing business. I’m not in sales either. I’m in the serving business. My duty is to be a vessel to deliver information to you. Do you want a better life? What do you want from life? Do you want to enjoy it every day or spend every waking moment wishing it were better? If you want it to be better then YOU need to BE better. Work on yourself and start now. A year from now you’d wish that you had started today.

Start today. If you are waiting for a sign this is it. Take it from the former lazy girl that stuffed French fries in my face as a snack while watching TV that is possible to change.

This is your sign

I'm talking to YOU
