Balance Your pH and Stay Well

Do you understand pH? The Wikipedia definition of pH is a measure of the acidity or basicity of an aqueous solution. Solutions with a pH less than 7 are said to be acidic and solutions with a pH greater than 7 are basic or alkaline. Pure water has a pH very close to 7. Our blood is slightly basic so keeping ourselves in an alkaline state is better for our blood and our bodies.

When you keep your blood in an acidic state your body is a breeding ground for infection and disease. Take a look at your diet. What do you eat and drink during the day. Coffee with sugar? Wine? Red meat with potatoes? All on the acidic side. What do you do to balance that or do you? Continue on this trend and you will notice that you are sick more often or prone to illness.
The food you eat is not the only cause for pushing your body out of pH balance. Stress, lack of sleep and tobacco use also push your body out of alignment.

What can you do?
1) Add more basic foods and drinks into your daily routine. (raw almonds for a snack, beets at dinner, cucumbers on your salad, bananas at breakfast)
2) Add a supplement to your daily routine. I use Alkalinize
There are several out there. Google Super Greens and see what you find or browse the isle at Whole Foods or a health food store.
3) Quit smoking and promote more self care. (massage, skin care, meditation, relaxation, and rest)

I’m not perfect. I drink wine. I eat Mexican food. I stay up late and over work myself. But what I do know for sure is that I don’t continue on this path for very long. I drink my daily dose of alkalinize by adding it to my Shakeology. You can drink it like a shot or add it to your daily shake. Either way just get it in your body in addition to feeding your body foods that help keep the blood balanced.

Tell me, when was the last time you were sick? How were you feeding yourself up to day of feeling ill? How did you feed yourself when you were ill? Did you load up on sugar? Ice cream and jello? The best thing you can do for your body when you are sick is to rest and feed it basic foods. I know the last thing you want is a giant salad when you feel down but that is exactly what your body needs. Try it next time and tell me what happens. Sugar breeds illness. That is another topic. Trust me on this one. If you have a cold or illness that is lingering cut the sugar.
