Week 1 Recap of the Ultimate Reset

September 28th 2015

resetweek1The food is not over the top strange. Sure the first time I did the Reset I had no idea what some of the things were. The oddest dinner may be the Root Medley because I had never eaten roasted beets before.

Not pictured: The supplements or the Shakeology. We had Shakeology as a snack every day for the first week.

Fruits, veggies, brown rice, quinoa, salmon, chicken, hummus, yogurt, oatmeal, eggs and nuts.

Prep for week 1:  You are in the kitchen a lot. I recommend prepping the week before. Buy your oils, nuts, spices and grains. Head to Costco and get brown rice, quinoa, coconut oil, and any other oil or spice you can buy in bulk. After the reset is finished you may not eat seaweed again but I’m sure you will make brown rice and black bean tacos.

Day 0: The day before the Reset. Have your last supper. Your final meal of steak or pizza or whatever you think you might miss for 3 weeks. Appreciate it. Prep your salads and chop veggies.

Day 1: Getting used to drinking water 30 minutes before a meal is a learning curve but you get used to it. Get used to peeing too. It happens. A lot.

Day 2: You wake up and say HOLY CRAP I lose how much weight? Yep. You lose a lot on the first day. At least I always do. This time I lost 3 pounds in a flash! Boom.

Day 3: You are peeing. You are tired of cleaning the kitchen. You king of have a headache because you miss your coffee and sugar and bread/pasta carbs.

Day 4: You are peeing. You are excited about being down another pound or 2. Your back may hurt or you may have other types of body aches. You are flushing toxins. Don’t panic. Just rest. This is why you are not supposed to work out hardcore during the reset. Take walks, take baths and just relax.

Day 5: You are peeing, your back hurts and you are tired of cooking and chopping and you want to throat punch your spouse if he asks you where something is one more time. However, you have lost 2 inches from your waist and your clothes are fitting better. You will not give up.

Day 6: You are peeing. Did I mention you are peeing? Your back is feeling better and you no longer have a headache. You’ve made it past the coffee and sugar withdraws.

Day 7: You are super excited that you are down 6.5 pounds. Your weight loss will vary. Some people don’t have much to lose but they lose inches and feel better because they kicked an addiction to energy drinks. My husband lost 10.5 pounds in the first week this time. Last time we did it he lost 7 pounds. You just never know. Don’t worry if you lose 3 pounds in the first week. It doesn’t mean you failed. Your body is cleansing. Give it a break.

We are heading into week 2 now and feeling awesome. Only spent $150 at the grocery store on a week’s worth of food. It is amazing how much you save when you don’t eat meat.

Here’s to week 2!
